Where October waits

warm, magical, and inviting

A forgotten road that only appears

when October arrives.

Something familiar seems so strange.

A memory I can’t place.

Fog drifting lazily between the trees,

curling around your ankles,

slowly embracing everything behind you.

Distant Bells beckon from afar.

A warm welcome to a place

that feels like home.

Leaves crunching beneath your feet,

each step drawing you closer.

Closer and closer,

cinnamon fills the air.

The fog parts,

clearing the way.

A cobblestone square

where the autumn leaves never stop falling.

The familiar storefronts bring memories of years past

and the growing excitement

to visit the shops.

Where to first?

Pumpkin's cafe,

where caramel dreams come true,

Or maybe The Poison Apple Apothecary,

To cure any ailment.

Sweetened treats

and air that tastes like sugar,

spiced teas that grant one wish,

mini cakes for a glamour,

or pies for a thrill.

The sun begins to set.

The evening bell rings.

The fog slowly reappears.

Cinnamon and caramel fill the air.

One last glance at the flickering lights.

You don’t want to leave.

You know you’ll return.

One step beyond the village,

and all the memories will be gone.

Beyond the village,

the road returns.

Where was I headed?

I’m not quite sure.

A forgotten road that only appears

When October arrives.

Something in the trees watches as you go.

A comforting presence,

A promise to return.

Until next October,

and a forgotten road.
