Where Is the Safest Place in the World to Escape Nuclear War, and Can Anyone Survive It

There is a question buried in every restless heart,

where can we run when the world begins to burn?

We imagine mountains shielding us,

or islands lost beneath the edge of maps.

But the truth is not in the soil or sea,

it lies in the trembling faith of our survival.

The safest place is not found, it is made,

by the courage to keep breathing when the sky turns to ash.

Still, I imagine the quiet corners of the earth.

The cold silence of Antarctica, untouched and waiting.

The deep valleys of New Zealand, green and remote.

Caves in Norway where time moves slowly,

places where the wind forgets the language of war.

Yet even there, no walls hold forever.

Radiation seeps like regret, invisible and patient.

The air will remember what we have done.

The rivers will carry the sorrow of our making.

So can anyone survive?

Perhaps survival will not mean what it once did.

Perhaps to live will mean to rebuild,

to light one small fire in the ruins of the world.

We will plant seeds in the shadow of silence,

teach our children to listen for kindness,

to rebuild not for power but for peace.

And maybe one day, far beyond the fallout,

the earth will forgive us for forgetting her love.
