Where is the giant

Where lies his head?

By Raymond G TaylorPublished 4 months ago • Updated 4 months ago • 1 min read

Where is the giant

Where lies his head

Where is the grave

Of the brave knight who did

Challenge Arthur in battle

To be smitten

With a single blow

Where is the cairn

To this bold monster of old

Who wore men's beards

Sewn into his shawl

How will we ever

Know of his past

Without a grave marker

To show us the history

Whither the hill

Mountainous monument

That we do beg to scale

Climbing into the clouds

Greatest of summits

To honour our forefathers

Stand upon their backs

Singing their songs

To the past

Dare I ask thee

Yr Widdfa?

O ~ o ~

Yr Wyddfa, known to the English Language as Snowdon, is the highest mountain in Wales, second highest in the UK, standing at 1,085 meters.

Urania, Accept this offering of verse. Bless our journey into the clouds and bring us gentle and clear skies and the wisdom to see afar from above.

I am making my first attempt to climb this popular peak today, June 20, 2026, with our eldest daughter. This journey was postponed from yesterday given adverse weather conditions.
