Where Do all the Kisses Go?

A short children’s book

“Where do all your kisses go?” I asked my mom one day. Do they fall off, disappear or simply fade away?

She stopped and wondered to herself as if she didn’t know. “Well my love, they stay with you so they can help you grow!”

“To grow?” I sort of chuckled. How could she possibly be right? “Why yes!” She smiled back at me. “Yes, I think they might!”

“See, when I kiss these little toes you grow so big and tall. So big, in fact you may not need your tootsies kissed at all!”

“Instead I’ll kiss your belly since my kisses make you giggle! Now you’ll grow up a happy boy ‘cause mommas kisses tickle!”

“I kiss your fingers every night to grow your arms out wide. So make sure you ALWAYS hug your mother.” “Of course I will!” I softly sighed.

“But last I’ll kiss your little cheek and hug you much too tight! So that you’ll have the biggest dreams every single night.”

“Now, you see my sweet boy, my kisses never leave you. They’re always there for you to use should you ever need to.”

“Always?” I slowly whispered with my halfway opened eyes. “Always my sweet boy, forever. Now, good night.”
