When you were never mine

This is my first time posting what I wrote online. It might not come off as much, but it's about an uncertain love.

When you were never mine

Why does my heart long for you,

even when I know that we don't belong to each other?

Why do I want to be yours,

and wish for you to be mine,

when I know that this isn't meant to be?

.

I often find my gaze seeking yours,

hoping to catch a glimpse of your eyes,

even when I know how my heart aches for you.

When I find happiness in your smiles,

and love in your eyes,

my heart threatens to skip a beat,

and I wonder,

is this love?

But tell me this isn't,

tell me this isn't real-

.

before I fall too deep inside,

without you by my side,

cold, heartbroken, and forever incomplete,

for a piece of me will die with you,

when I fall in love with my illusion of you.
