When Wishes Meet the World
The Art of Surrendering Control Without Giving Up
The highest form of living is accepting that things do not always go as planned.
My dear, the hardest thing to accept in life is never loss itself.
It’s that you were so earnest, so hardworking, and so sincere, yet you still didn't get the result you wanted.
You loved someone with all your tenderness, but they still left.
You dedicated your youth to a job, only to be replaced in the end.
You planned the best path for your child, but they chose a life you can't understand at all.
You cared for your parents, cherished your family, and strived to live well—yet fate might still take away the person you least want to lose without warning.
Our true pain often isn't just that things didn't go as planned.
It’s that we always hold a pre-drawn picture of the future in our hearts, insisting that reality must unfold according to it.
But life never promises:
That as long as you are kind, you won't get hurt.
That as long as you work hard, you'll definitely succeed.
That as long as you love deeply, you won't be separated.
That as long as you are well-prepared, you won't encounter accidents.
Life isn't a script with a predetermined cause and effect; it is a world full of unknown variables, probabilities, and structural changes.
Therefore, accepting that things don't go as planned is not resignation.
It means finally understanding that wishes can guide the way, but they cannot command the world.
When reality doesn't unfold as you expect, true wisdom isn't about continuing to pressure the world, but about understanding the differences, updating yourself, and finding a new path forward.
When things don't go as planned, it's the first time our wishes encounter the real world.
We always assume that if our wishes are strong enough, the results should appear as expected:
Wanting to get into our ideal school, we believe that hard work will definitely pay off.
Wanting to hold onto a relationship, we believe that if we give enough, the other person won't leave.
Wanting to run a business well, we believe that diligence, kindness, and responsibility are enough to overcome all problems.
But reality is never generated by a single cause.
The result of an exam also depends on your study methods, foundation, physical condition, competitive environment, and performance under pressure.
Whether a relationship can last doesn't just depend on how much you love each other; it also involves both people's abilities, values, life stages, communication structures, and shared visions.
The success of a business is influenced by a combination of factors, including resources, technology, market conditions, timing, team dynamics, and countless unexpected variables.
Your failure to achieve your goals doesn't necessarily mean you didn't try hard enough, nor does it mean you weren't worthy.
