When Thoughts Touch Skin

Soft. Subtle. Undone.

My thoughts touch my skin,

Like they’ve missed me for years,

Soft echoes of longing,

That all dissolve into tears.

They move through my body,

Like some heat in disguise,

Half truth, half illusion...

Half... burning goodbyes.

I do not know where.

I begin or I end.

Just fragments of feeling,

That of course, I cannot defend.

There’s something addictive,

In being undone,

Like dancing with shadows,

Sweet enough to call you “the one.”

My mental state shifts,

Like the tide of the moon,

A bane in my veins.

Sometimes it feels pleasure,

Sometimes it feels pain...

But even in chaos,

I notice the art,

Of living inside...

A beating heart.

And maybe that’s all,

That I’m meant to become,

A soft contradiction,

That never feels... Quite done.
