When They Didn't Care
And Now, I Don't, Either.
They called me names, and abused me emotionally,
And,
They wonder why I harden my feelings;
They hurt me physically and harmed my children,
All while pretending they cared enough to be friends.
They broke into my house repeatedly,
Leaving us with nothing,
At Christmas, they stole my childrens presents,
And left us without a home.
All of my young life they bullied and abused us
Leaving us crying in pain,
While those who claimed to love us,
Ignored us in vain,
Thinking it was just a game.
They left me feeling lonely,
Hurt my children;
They didn't know feelings,
They only knew how to cause someone
great pain;
I spent weeks in horrid hostels,
Where I faced the abuse again,
Then;
In my escape,
I was out on the streets,
Alone for months in the rain.
I lost everything;
Including my children who were
very much loved indeed,
And they told me I was uncaring when
that happened,
Stigmatized us for having needs.
These people who hurt me,
Did this to others,
Without caring about the hurt they had
caused.
And yes;
At a time when I needed my loved ones most,
They blamed me,
Then left;
Making me feel like the vilest woman on earth.
This was a time when they didn't care,
And now;
They want me because they say I've changed,
But I didn't change for them;
I changed for me,
For my children,
It was the only way I could keep us safe.
So;
I'm asking you please stop telling me that I
should learn to be there.
When I needed someone,
They didn't care;
And now,
I don't care either.
