When the Web Went Dark

The internet is no more to be

When the Web Went Dark

The day the internet breathed its last,
The future vanished with the past.
Millions stared at lifeless screens,
Wondering what the silence means.

No banking, shopping, news or trade,
No calls for help, no debts were paid.
The mighty web we’d come to trust,
Collapsed to little more than dust.

Panic echoed through the land,
People lost what they’d planned.
Without a signal, app or guide,
Many stood with fear inside.

Then came something long forgot,
A neighbour asking, Need a hand or not?
Conversations filled the air,
Replacing posts with something rare.

Children wandered into parks once more,
Making kingdoms by the shore.
Bruised knees mattered far less than likes,
Adventure came without the spikes.

Families gathered round one flame,
Remembering every face by name.
Old stories travelled lip to ear,
Instead of vanishing year by year.

Perhaps the web would rise again,
Rebuilt by clever hearts and men.
But if it didn’t… maybe we’d see,
The greatest network is humanity.
