When The Shadows Come
Asleep In My Dreams
Sometimes late at night, I lay awake in my room
Watching shadows making shapes on my walls
I wonder if they could be reflections of someone I knew
Or if my shadow wanders too, while I sleep
Maybe that's why I'm tired, and disconnected
From the visits my shadow makes in the dark
*
Maybe sleeping is the dream
And while dreaming, I cast shadows in another’s room, while they watch
Maybe they sleep in their dreams,
while my shadow wanders
Perhaps the dream is reality
And I am the shadow, and my shadow is me
*
The alarm sounds, as I am falling asleep
And shadows rest, in the light
Sleepy, I stir,
restless, yet another day
Tired from my journeys
Encountering friends
Until the sun sets, and the shadows awaken again
