When the Man of Your Dreams Makes You Scream
A dark and frightening nightmare

When the Man of Your Dreams Makes You Scream
He came to me in velvet dreams,
A gentleman so kind,
With midnight eyes and whispered words,
That crept inside my mind.
He promised me a thousand stars,
A love that couldn't die,
But something evil watched me sleep,
Behind his smiling eyes.
He wore a coat of darkest black,
His fingers long and thin,
He kissed my hand beneath the moon,
And begged to be let in.
I thought I'd found my perfect love,
The man I'd waited for,
Until I heard his footsteps crawl,
Beneath my bedroom floor.
At three o'clock the mirror cracked,
I heard a woman cry,
Her face appeared behind the glass,
With terror in her eyes.
She pointed at the man I loved,
And whispered, "He is dead,"
I turned and saw his twisted grin,
And wished I'd stayed in bed.
His fingers felt as cold as clay,
His skin began to crawl,
He told me I belonged to him,
And laughed against the wall.
The bedroom walls began to bleed,
The doors were sealed up tight,
I screamed until my throat was sore,
And begged to see daylight.
He showed me seven wedding rings,
Upon a silver chain,
And told me every bride he'd loved,
Had died in dreadful pain.
He placed a ring upon my hand,
It burned into my bone,
He whispered I would be his bride,
And never be alone.
Then morning came, I woke in bed,
And thanked the Lord above,
I thought it was a nightmare,
About a deadly love.
But there upon my trembling hand,
His wedding ring I see,
And underneath my bedroom floor,
He whispered Come to me.
