When The Fat Lady Sings

The it’s almost certainly over

When The Fat Lady Sings

There comes a moment when the ending can no longer hide,

A final note hanging heavy in the air,

Everything leading to this point without pause,

A truth that refuses to be ignored any longer.

No one listens closely until it is almost too late,

Warnings fade into the background of everyday noise,

Choices made without thought begin to gather weight,

Each one adding to something that cannot be undone.

The stage is set long before anyone realises the cost,

Every action building towards a quiet conclusion,

There is no sudden twist waiting to change the outcome,

Only the result of everything that came before.

Turning back becomes a thought with no real meaning,

The path has already decided where it will lead,

Regret settles in where certainty once stood strong,

A feeling that arrives when there is no time left.

Do not turn to me when the final moment arrives,

There is nothing here that can rewrite what has been done,

Some endings belong fully to those who created them,

Without room for anyone else to carry the weight.

The last note falls and the silence says everything,

A closing that needed no explanation or defence,

Only the echo of choices left behind in its wake,

A reminder that some endings are earned, not given.
