When the Cold Comes

I wanted to join a challenge, but I'm not a V+. I still want to share it.

By Terry ThompsonPublished 12 months ago • 1 min read

When the leaves change and cold comes knocking,

Heavens cry with blistering snow.

Each day growing darker, mocking,

Now we feel the missing glow.

Thus each life, with winter still stalking,

Hearth and home feel so low.

Every night, we hear darkness sweet-talking,

Covered in blankets, and yet we cannot know,

Once day breaks, are we sleepwalking?

Let minds rest and winds blow.

Death comes, not peacocking,

Silent, a friend, here to show

Each light must fade, leave no chance for talking,

That is the way the world must go.

So leave no tears, no time for gawking.

Into the abyss, our loved ones flow.

Now face the world, when the cold comes knocking.
