When Static Clings

A poem examining mind glitches

By Cheryl E PrestonPublished 3 months ago • Updated 3 months ago • 1 min read

This poem is dedicated to those who deal with racing thoughts that feel as if static is clinging to their minds. Know you are not alone.

Fuzzy logic

Clinging to my mind

Brain waves

Breaking the chain of command

Attacking my emotions

Buzzing inside

Like thousands of

Worker bees zzzzzzzz

Assaulting my pounding head

Bursting through my eardrums

Popping and glitching

Life wayward firecrackers

Electrical impulses malfunctioning

crackling and sizzling

With each random thought

Misfiring signals

Hissing and snapping

Interrupting

My flow of thought

Stammering and stuttering

Brain cells

Working overtime

Neurotransmitters

Disconnect

As signals are crossed

Misfiring signals

Unable to trust

Reasoning and logic

Humming like

A power plant

Roaring loudly

Yet no one else

Hears the dysfunction

How do you spell relief

From the internal white noise

Of static clinging

To my mind
