when life was simple

Curiosity kills the cat, but feeds the child.

Collecting rocks from the forest

Sorting them into categories

Before ever knowing the definition of metamorphic.

The clouds look like dragons and flowers.

The bugs aren't scary as they crawl on the skin.

Backyards aren't just grass and hedges,

But castles and kingdoms and lands unseen.

It's easy to make friends with strangers

And paint smiles on the faces of those you don't know.

Charisma comes second nature,

And the world is the stage for the show.

I still collect rocks and release spiders outside,

But I yearn for the days when the world was bright.
