When I was small, I could hear voices

At first, they lingered in my head

Sometimes I'd scream, without a choice

Then, something stirred beneath my bed

The voices changed with its new movement

The curtains still, would flow and sway

Blowing asking for my consent

As the moon hid himself away

I always knew when it was nearing

The floorboards cracked and windows moaned

Goosebumps raised my skin and hair

Chilling me right down to the bone

When I was small, they would come calling

Speaking to me through open flame

I would stare lost in it for hours

And one day, the voices learned my name

Something about them had a power

And soon I found out why they came

They wanted my spirit, to devour

The child inside me to reclaim

Waiting for the given hour

Forever to play those childish games

Beware the voices making you cower

For you will never be the same
