When Fireflies Write on the Night

A luminous poem about fleeting beauty, quiet hope, and the magic of darkness.

By Emma Published about a year ago • 1 min read

Beneath the hush of summer skies,

Small lanterns wake before our eyes.

They blink like stars that chose to roam,

And make the shadows feel like home.

Each tiny spark, a fleeting note,

A love song written as they float.

Their golden light, so pure, so brief,

Can heal a heart, or soothe its grief.

No map, no guide, yet still they meet,

In quiet fields, on tender feet.

They speak in glows we cannot hear,

Yet somehow feel when they are near.

The moon looks down, a patient friend,

Who knows all nights must find their end.

Yet whispers, “Still, they burn, they try,

They teach us how to light the sky.”

And so we watch, and so we learn,

From every spark, the way they burn.

For even in the darkest night,

A single soul can give off light.
