When Doves Fly

A poetic tribute to Prince

By Joe PattersonPublished 6 months ago • 1 min read

It was on this day ten years ago we heard the news that made doves cry.

A home going in which we saw the grand dove fly.

Outstretched arms formed a loving circle.

For a spirit that shines bright in the color purple.

A voice empowered with vocals that gave the greatest sing.

Blues, Rock and beyond. You never just a prince, but a king.

The day you died the world cried tears made out of purple rain.

The grief over your death was an expression worth the pain.

Hard work and black sweat. Your artistry was intense.

Thank you Rogers Nelson. Never will there ever be another Prince.
