When Being Connected Leaves You Disconnected

I'll say please, if it pleases you,

thank you - to be polite.

As we rummage round the living room,

ignoring things unsaid last night.

Pretending to be busy,

rushing through another day.

Looking at each other,

with nothing new to say.

I don't like the confrontation,

you don't like the backing down.

So, we avoid one another,

neither wants to make a sound.

It just might stir communication,

we've both unofficially, called it off.

Walking around, uneducated therapists -

proclaiming what we know, and stuff.

To keep the game alive,

no-one wants to walk away.

But we are cold to how we're feeling,

feelings- just get in the way.

So, could you please keep your opinions,

it's ok, let me alone.
