What Was

What Will Be

In my mind, there is a monster

Scaring new ideas away

Bringing fear, drawing doom closer

Stirring up chaos and dismay

Creeping its fingers to the surface

From the depths, kept out of sight

Stealing and shaking, peace and purpose

In the shadowed, cover of night

Pieces of someone that I once was

Part’s I have packed, neatly away

Riddles and specks, of controlled chaos

Another story, another day

Coming to create madness and mayhem

Tearing the calm from healing wounds

Wearing a crown of memories diadem

Resurrecting the dead from tattered tombs

Yes, there is a monster deep within me

Running amuck inside my head

Wreaking havoc with my sanity

With thoughts I buried, believing dead

The battle to contain, control and conquer

Lost to the freedom to let them be

Free to reveal this inner monster

The story of what makes me, me
