What's your favourite colour?

That question again

The question lingers

My mind sputters

How could you choose just one

Purple strikes bone-soul deep

From my aura queerly it seeps

To the world outside

A world of green

Some’s view, some’s scene, some's yet to be seen

And among the clumps of cellulose

Birds gleam yellow

Scream, cheep, bellow

To be perceived and sometimes to peeve

Ears from pale pink to rich brown

Of the ones who name and who know how

To understand the waves of light

Passion. Rage. Love.

Stop. Danger. Blood.

Seen all over black and white

When separate becomes one in splotches, in blots

When all light is present in cones, in rods

Along each wave flows meaning, depth, feeling

Yet feeling, depth, meaning exist within closed eyes

Ones closed for a blink, a night, a life

In sight, outright, unfurling to expose

What’s your favorite colour?

Through my eyes, I could point some out

But colour is the parsley on my plate

It is what’s with it, by it, through it that permeates.
