Cold, to the very marrow of my bones
I lie here, shivering, unable to move
If only I had obeyed the cones
Instead of having something to prove
Dad said I’d crash one day
Always driving like a maniac
I know what he’d say
“What now Brainiac?”
I can’t shift my leg
Trapped under the jammed front seat
Useless, but I scream and beg
Far from home in a field of wheat
I’m sorry Dad, you were right
I’m not Evil Knievel in a car
I don’t always have to fight
I’m not lightning bottled in a jar
When I crashed through the barricade
I knew it was my final run
I’ll die in this car.. alone, afraid
No more days in the sun
Blood trickles, but oh so slow
My heart is sluggish but still beating
Can’t feel my fingers, my toes
One final warmth, soul heating
Then off to sleep…..
