What Isn't Perfect Is Perfectly Good

What is perfection?

It’s an arbitrary concept.

To say that something is perfect is to say that it’s exactly as it should be,

But how it should be depends entirely on who you ask,

And when you ask them.

What does it mean for us to live our best lives?

I suppose it means for each of us to live the best version of our life we can

with the opportunities we have.

Having the best doesn’t necessarily mean having perfection;

We make some sacrifices, small freedoms and comforts,

To achieve the best outcome overall.

We may sacrifice higher pay in favor of doing work we genuinely enjoy,

Or sacrifice owning a car in order to have more money for everything else,

Or sacrifice our own plans for the sake of doing right by a friend.

Our best life may not be perfect,

But it’s perfectly good.
