What is Home?

A Poem

Home is a house

Full of laughter and joy

Home is book

Or a little stuffed toy

Home is a familiar face

Flooding us with comfort

Home is relief

Driving out the fear and hurt

Home is a smile

Sweet and demure

Home is a child

Unendingly pure

Home is everywhere

So our bodies may stray

Far and wide

But home is where our hearts will stay

Because home exists in the stars

In the sea

Wherever the hand of man has ever graced with its touch

Because home lives in the depths of humanity

Where love blossoms between the cracks of broken hearts

Stitched back together by gentle hands

Given hope

And a chance to restart

Home is family

A sibling's playful tease

A parent's outstretched hand

A hug so good you have to squeeze

Home is nomadic

It follows you wherever you may go

Through thick and thin

Rain and snow

But most importantly

Home is love

Home is knowing who holds your heart in tender fingers

Grasping with the gentle touch of a dove

Home is warmth

And light

And calm

And right

Home is everything

From beginning to end

Until the threads of time shred

And the laws of man bend

Home is within us

In every breath

In every blink, home is with us

Even in the gentle hands of Death
