What is a Shadow?

A question.

What is a Shadow? A darkness on the day

A sad nonspeaking fellow, who goes the wrong way

He can not move on his own, he waves when others do

He lives his life all alone, he disappears at noon

He can only lay on the ground, or maybe against the wall

Can't even exist when you're not around, or on a cloudy day in fall

But what do all shadows know? What can they really say?

They only come with lights that glow, night can only be for day.
