What is a memory?

Is it a thought?

Is it an image?

Is it a recollection?

Some people might say,

A memory is the process,

Of storing and recollecting information.

This form of memory,

Is not usually visually oriented,

Rather it is useful for remembering data.

Meanwhile another form of memory

Represents images of one’s past,

Whether they be good or bad,

Short term or long term,

Euphoric or traumatizing.

These images help bring,

The past to the present,

Whether they be loving and caring,

Or nightmares better left forgotten.

What is a memory?

It is data or imagery,

An instance to recall,

A fragment of the brain.

Rather,

We should be asking,

How do we remember?
