What Is A Color?

What is a color?

Fresh green leaves soaked by spring rain,

The ever present cacophony of cars splashing muddled water across the street

It is an oak table the color of eyes I once loved,

And a car sitting idly across the way,

It’s wheels a reminder of the hopeless night sky

Color is everything

It is the people we meet,

And the silent noise of a rainy day

We perceive each hue and shade as discordant loves,

All of them meaning something special to us,

And us alone

My eyes are my soul,

My glasses their guide

Helping me to see the iridescence of life

The colors I see in each and every person tell me but a small piece of their story.

It is that same small piece that reveals to me

Their true colors.
