What have we become?

Will we ever go back again?

Who's that?

Who are you?

What's that?

What is it doing?

~

Where are we?

How did we get here?

Will we ever go back

To the way it was before?

~

Hearts breaking

Eyes leaking

Voices screaming

Can't drown it out

~

Two people

Lost in a sea

Turmoil everywhere

Tearing away

~

Ripping apart who we were

Crafting us both into someone new

Someone cold and hurt

With a broken point of view

~

Who's that?

Screaming at me

Who are you?

I don't recognize you anymore

~

What's that?

What are you doing?

What is it doing?

Why are you so angry?

~

Where are we?

This used to be our home

How did we get here?

Together but alone

~

Will we ever go back

To the way it was before?

Happy and smiling

Holding hands walking through the door

~

This poem was inspired by thoughts about breakups. No, I haven't broken up with anyone recently. I still have two wonderful and amazing partners.
