Fire in the Mountains above LA: By Dean Traylor

I.

What happened to the blue skies

that once ruled over this land of wheat and ryes?

The fires blazes,

choking the skies before our eyes.

II.

Bye, bye blue skies

as nature casts its gray-brown dyes.

The world was merry,

now hope cries.

III.

No mercy for the mountains that scratch the skies

as the glowing ember flies.

The fire takes the trees

as the burning acres rise.

IV.

As blue becomes black in these skies,

here is a word to the wise:

It’s better to run afar

before someone dies.
