What Color Am I?

Spectrum of Light

By Jessica SwickPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

If I were asked to describe myself with one color,

I would not give an answer, but rather turn my back.

When we look around we see every color that falls between white and black.

With that being said, we often ignore that the inside holds so much more.

If you could see my soul, you would see the spectrum of light that follows a storm.

What color am I?

I am red when fire runs through my veins,

yet red in a loving shade.

I am orange as I find peace in the sunset,

yet also when my creative side starts to thrive.

I am yellow when I smile from ear to ear,

yet I am yellow when caution is requested by fear.

I am green as I am in constant growth like the fields and the trees,

yet green when I am nauseated by the judgement the world brings.

I am blue when I believe that the sky is the limit,

yet blue when I feel that my dreams cannot be reached.

I am violet when I convince myself that I’m a queen,

yet violet when circumstances are dark and I don’t want to be seen.

I am all colors, just as is all of humanity.

But, I wonder: when you look at you, then look at me- what colors do you see?
