What Awaits Me

Between our first wail and final gasp

A road we must all walk

Through my time I have journeyed it all

Struggled over mountains steep

Rough and hard

Dreaming of those valleys below

Green and peaceful

All my life, I have tried and

All my life, I have prayed

To be granted the grace to see

Celestial light on the day my eyes darken

And here it is

I have come to it at last

Though the road twists and turns

Glimpses of the glow on the horizon

Beams of my final sunset

Warming my face

But in my horror

The final image before my eyes

Be not the chariots of Heaven

But rather of an

Armageddon

That awaits me
