What Am I?

A riddle…

I am a creature that’s a lot like you in many ways.

I have human skin, hair, and teeth.

I have a mouth, a voice, a mind.

This is how it’s been my whole life,

But now I have some questions,

About some differences between us.

What hurts you is a mere tickle on my skin,

What you find cold would make me sweat,

And when I'm tired I would bet,

Your life is full of energy.

Time and music don’t add up in my universe,

In yours it’s finely tuned.

Let’s now flip this on its head,

And I will hear orchestras where you hear wind,

I’ll run marathons around your fastest thought,

And beat you to the answer before you know the question.

I will burn so much I scorch anything in sight.

The slightest bit of pressure is just too much for me.

Each line’s a truth and each one a contradiction,

So I ask you now my question,

If I look like you and you like me,

How are we built so differently?

If it’s true you’re human,

What, then, am I?
