Sometimes people ask me
Why I love to read books.
I would like you to see
Now come and take a look.
A book can be a friend
When you're feeling alone
And you want to relax
In your own happy zone.
Reading is a virtue
Not a vice or a sin.
It’s something to pursue
Not something you can win
A book can transform you
Into something you're not.
A king, a celebrity
Or even a robot.
A book is a gateway
To fictional places
Where you can dream and play
Across time and spaces
A book is an escape
From a cruel reality
You use it as a cape
Of fun and fantasy
A book can make do
Everything or nothing.
It’s always there for you
To read about something.
A book makes you imagine
About things that aren't real.
Visual Illusions
That truly make you feel.
It was my shield at times
When I was called a nerd.
A notion that I find
Completely absurd.
A book is a scroll
Full of sacred knowledge.
To help you out in school
And all throughout college.
When my head has worries
And I need a place to hide
I still have the stories
Somewhere deep inside.
A book can train the mind
Like whetstone to a sword.
So much knowledge to find
You will never get bored.
Next time you ask me
What a book can do
I have a thorough list
Here waiting for you.
