We’ve Never Needed a Drink
Tea or a glass of juice does it for me

We’ve Never Needed a Drink
I’ve never been one for a glass of wine,
Nor reached for spirits at the close of day.
A cup of tea has always been enough,
Its gentle warmth has never led astray.
My husband feels exactly just the same,
We’ve never found that drink could bring us cheer.
No bottles lined upon a kitchen shelf,
No reason for them ever to appear.
We’ve shared our laughs with steaming mugs in hand,
Put the kettle on through sunshine, rain and snow.
The sweetest conversations we have had,
Have come with tea and time to let them flow.
Through every season life has placed our way,
We’ve faced it side by side with quiet grace.
No need for anything to cloud our minds,
Contentment always found its rightful place.
The kettle sings a tune we know so well,
The cups are waiting where they’ve always been.
It’s funny how the simplest things in life,
Can fill the heart in ways not always seen.
So here’s to all the ordinary days,
To simple joys that never lose their glow.
A loving home, good company and tea,
Have given us far more than some may know.
