Were we ever friends enough ?
[add answer here..]
The bittersweet feeling as the memories of old friends
Flash before your eyes; triggered by a particular song, movie, outdoor activity. It's been years. You don't miss them,
Yet wonder how they're doing and dwell on those memories. No, you wouldn't reach out
And if you could change the ending,
You wouldn't.
You've grown apart from them and their absence became a part of you,
Just as yours became a part of them.
So you stare blandly into space,
Reminiscing and wondering if they,
For whatever reason,
Found peace in your absence, and too,
Wouldn't change a thing.
And so, you realize
That some things are better left unchanged
But you'd still want to feel them twice.
Oh bittersweet emotions,
Carrying you through your days
As you stare at the empty ceiling
From the living room couch.
Just a thought.
