Welcome to the New Unknown
A dream I cannot shake
I dreamt of you last night
Shiny and new.
Growth evident,
much improved.
Majestic...
Showing ingenuity
and grit,
but you made sure not to lose your wit.
Still bold;
still subtle.
Somehow a little less humble.
Who did we think we were?
What did I think we had?
So much there that we never had a chance to grasp.
If only we let ourselves sit in it,
feel it,
perhaps develop it.
We didn't even need to fully understand it.
My one regret was losing you,
although I know you never felt the same.
Ashamed we were never able to christen it with a name
What is left of this is mine to bear -
Something I struggle to share.
I suppose it worked out for the better though.
You, home to a loving family.
And me, with a family all my own.
