Home is not the hurried anxiety
Of the holidays where your
Accomplishments, or lack thereof, are
Measured up and served with a
Bird dry enough to choke on.
Neither is it the many
Places where someone
Decided you should stay or
You needed to stay to
Have a roof over your head.
Nor is it only found by
People with such a dwelling
Or those surrounded by Family.
These people can also be
Searching for home.
Home is where you feel
Safe and protected from
What brings you harm in your life.
Your refuge where you can
Let your guard down.
Who are the people you
Trust to know the real you?
Where are the places you are
Free to be at ease?
Welcome home.
