Ah, there you are. It's been a while!
What, a whole year has gone by and I've barely seen your smile?
Don't you worry my dear,
I've made a fresh batch of Butterbeer,
We can drink it after jumping into a crisp leaf pile!

October has always been my favorite time of year.
Yours too, if memory serves me well.
Now that you're here,
Let's find a haunted house or cemetery,
For us to test our fear.
Yell as loud as you want, the dead won't provide commentary!

Wasn't that so much fun?
Jumping and screaming,
Saying our prayers and dreaming,
Of the glorious treats at my place.
It's pumpkin pie, your favorite.
Don't be shy, by all means stuff your face!

As we tucked into our succulent feast, a knock at my door interrupted it.
Huffing and puffing, I stormed right over,
Slinging the door open, an older woman takes cover
Wrapping her black cloak around her face,
The poor dear began to pace,
Shrieking, "Goodness, you almost killed me!"
I recognized her voice and retorted, "Oh Auntie, don't be silly!"

She ducked inside with a cackle, removing her cloak with care.
"My darling niece," She remarked. "You gave me quite a scare!"
You watched us carry on like a pair of loons,
Head bobbing back and forth like our orange and black balloons.
Then with a sigh she said, "Alright, are you ladies ready for some real fun?"
The look in your eyes seemed like you wanted to run,
And yet, a curiosity inside you burned like the sun.
So you stayed!

Auntie led us to the woods, where a dingy wooden cottage resides.
Surrounded by dark, gnarled trees and a rotten pumpkin patch,
You kept silent, but on watch.
The sight of it all chilled me to my bones and gnawed at my insides.
Forward, Auntie confidently strode,
Chanting, "Come in, welcome to my humble abode!"
Opening the door wide.

Going inside, we were expecting the worse.
Vampires, werewolves, or maybe a curse?
Thankfully, none of our fears were true,
Inside was a group of Auntie's friends making a 'witches brew'.
Made from the fermented pumpkins from outside.
With a sigh, we sat and inbibed in the drink.
It warmed our bellies and made us think,
"I wish October would never end!"
