Weeping skies

a simple poem about rain

By Jennisea Standing RockPublished 2 years ago • 1 min read

I watched the rain wash away yesterday,

The drops of water, no different than tears.

Cool to the touch,

Freezing and sharp.

They fell from the air,

Mystic,

Dewdrops from Elysium.

I watched the rain wistfully clean the air of impurity.

The bacterial scent of petrichor a natural perfume,

Sweet, earthy, and clean.

I long to dance in the rain,

Unafraid of the illnesses that await.

When I dance in the crisp clear fluid,

They fell like pinpricks on my skin.

Sharp,

Crisp,

Both blazing hot,

Yet a chilling cold.

I danced and twirled in the rain,

Washing away strife,

Washing away worry,

Washing away last night's sins.

The tears of the Moon at night,

The silvery drops

Falling,

Diving,

Flittering away into dew,

Into grass.

The rain is washing away the sins of yesterday,

Bringing forth sweetened cleansings.

And look,

They taste like a dream.
