Wednesday

an ode to the mental load

I'm counting my stressings

and all of my blessings

but the math isn't mathing

I'm responding, they're reacting

You say you're a grown up

but toddlerhood shows up

while you stamp your feet

with entitled demanding

Would it be such a crime

to learn to compromise

maybe see another side

of a two sided coin

I'm just talking to the bricks again

and all of my synapse friends

we're always having board meetings.

The calendar

the to do list

the spirit days

the forgotten

shoes

the broken broom

It's so much to carry

by mid week I'm weary

but I push on

like soldiers do

without a thank you

like Mother's do
