Your mother withheld those three words

caught in conditions

that you didn't frequently meet.

Your father slapped your tears

if they dared to fall,

so you learned to bottle them,

which only made you weak.

You think you are displaying masculinity,

but you are only broadcasting insecurity,

chauving your values down throats

that only choke them back up at you.

My outspoken confidence is not assailing

nor is my disinclination to acquiesce

to "elders" or impotent men.

If my boldness

my assertiveness

and my unflinching fierceness provoke

look in the mirror

and you'll find the reason why.
