We Were Kings
A tribute to Chadwick Boseman

We were kings. Prophets and overseers of holy peace. Advocates for loyalty, embodiments of royalty.
We were kings. When the world lit torches to build fires we joined in hands that built empires.
We were kings. Ripped from the throne land of our homeland. Robbed of our names and not allowed to be our own man.
We were kings. We fought through oppression and turned the confessions of our struggles into lessons.
We were kings. Darkness bringing light to the world. Though we stayed in the rough, we came from diamonds and pearls.
We were kings. We overcame obstacles at any length and did it with uninhibited strength.
We were kings. We took everything that went wrong and turned our pains into beautiful songs.
We were kings. When we shared our blues the world listened to us and understood everything that was missing to us.
We were kings. We are the storytellers who set the stage to show the world how to write the next page.
We were kings. Very often they saw us all as criminals, but the roles we play in history are very pivotal.
We were kings. We brought the world so much glory and thank the father for blessing us with Chadwick to tell our stories.
~~Dedicated to the memory of Chadwick Boseman. Thank you for telling our stories, Wakanda Forever.
