everyone gathered to watch the world go dark. served
cheeses and homemade preserves. talked about the
light, the way it slid among the trees, an
infiltrator, the king of shadows come too early.
perhaps the greatest wonder was less the
sun's coy dance with daylight, and more the fact that
everyone drew the light back in a single sigh of awe. maybe relief.
