We the people under heaven
We came together on the tragedy of 911
We were one people of one accord
We stood together neighbor to neighbor
A enemy the whole nation came to comprehend
There was honesty and we did not pretend
The brotherhood we enjoyed came to an end
We’ve slid back to being indifferent my friend
We pass each other as we cling to our fears
Whilst many search for the reason they are here
We face an enemy who attacks us in our mind
Straining our sanity our very lives on the line
Building on sand a house divided can not stand
The darkness seeks a soul in which to covet
Train up a child and when he is old he won’t depart from it
Many are the lessons our society must heed
For us to break the power of cruelty and greed
Lives in the balance casualties the collateral cost
The love we had for one another seems to be lost
Let us not meet evil with evil
Together we stand we are the people
