We made pain you and I.

It was tremendous!

It was as though some ancient agreement

woke a sleeping darkness in you.

Not in me,

no,

no, I was born the storm

and you were taken by its wind.

No words were between you and I,

rather, it was an ocean at night,

silent in its vastness,

still in its oily blackness....

submerged,

my head dipped cold in its chilling cloak.

You were that deep sea creature

that brushed the skin of my vulnerable leg,

and I asked myself,

'but how is it vulnerable,

if it is I who have waded there in the first place?'
