We know who we are

A poem about Pride

We know who we are,

our identities denied

instead telling ourselves

to survive, we must hide.

We echo the lies,

inside of our mind.

Fear keeps us hidden

from more of our kind.

You know who you are.

You are right, so you think.

But still only see

the blue and the pink.

You don't understand

how to exist in between,

and so you deny.

Your belief is obscene.

Our shadows diffuse

the light you have seen.

That's why you crush

our lives in between.

A spectrum exists

From the pink to the blue.

Our lives only challenge

all that you knew.

All of us are equal,

do not hold us behind.

We need to come out now,

please open your mind.

To live our best life

we must cross the divide.

When that right is refused,

too many have died.
