We Are The Remedy

911 Thoughts/Poem

By Kelli Sheckler-AmsdenPublished 2 months ago • 1 min read

it rushed through the streets

like the angel of death

the cries and debris

with all the hatred of hell

politics and religion

and hidden agendas collided

and the buildings were hit

claiming thousands of lives

and we sat in our houses

staring at our TVs

all together, alone

asking, "how can this be?"

at a loss for the words

to describe what we were seeing

an ending of a world

and today we're still reeling

the same questions without answers

we just want to know why

because hate is a cancer

for which an evil man dies

still we choose to forget

or let life get in the way

the love that act beget

and the changes it made

in how we looked at each other

for the hearts, there, inside

father, sister and mother

and our brothers that died

and the still ache burns a memory

through the ash and the lies

only love brings the remedy

for the ones willing to try
