We Are Being Played

So many flames have been extinguished and

Deprived of crucial life-giving oxygen

While denying Mother Earth of vital

Human heat, warmth and love.

Mankind's raging rivers of ignorance,

Intolerance and arrogance

Drown everything with its demanding, unquenchable,

Impatient thirst.

But soon there will be a roaring howl of anger

Emanating from deep within the bowels of this planet

We call home.

A fury that will be felt vibrating and throbbing

Within the veins of our lost souls

As we try to grapple with the consequences coming due.

And the demons, they mock us and laugh at us

All the while pretending to be angels.

Or maybe they are just angels

Being angels.

Trying to show us how we've gone wrong?

Yet our seething mortal pride and ego keep our eyes,

And our hearts, tightly closed.

We're just human fools.

We're being played.

Wake up.
