We are all the person without

Still we are friends, and we are strangers.

The middle, the start, the end.

For brief moments, we are all the person without,

the life, the love, the friend,

the stories teach us to dream about.

They say, the pen is mightier than the sword,

yet we can not write away the pain,

We can not chant a magic word,

to make our reality sane.

Still we are friends,

and we are strangers.

We justify the ends,

ignore the dangers.

There are lies we must all live,

in our heads and in our hearts,

There are compromises we must all give,

that make the whole, something less than the parts.

It seems we are all alone,

together.

Solutions unknown,

forever.

Until, a nod, a glance,

demands a smile.

Suddenly, thoughts, dreams, a chance.

Happiness for a little while.

It was but a moment,

yet the day is made.

The dread goes dorment,

the clouds fade.

The sky blue, crisp, and clean.

Our connection, unspoken but shared,

the glue for what life could mean.

And all because, I simply cared.
