We Are Alive

A reflection on finding the strength to keep fighting through the darkest times

Those dark times we feel
The times we feel stuck
Feeling like no one understands
Like nothing is going right

Those black thoughts in our minds
We wonder why we have them
Are our minds being mean
Does our mind hate us

I know life feels heavy right now
I feel it too sometimes

But when the world goes dark
I remind myself
I am still alive
I am still standing
Fighting
Alive

You are still alive
You are standing
Fighting
Alive

This poem is about the dark, heavy times when we feel like nothing is going right and we can’t find the sun. But the sun is there; it's just hiding. We still have strength inside those dark moments.

Just like a thunderstorm brings lightning, thunder, and rain, the weather doesn’t hurt forever. This feeling is temporary. I know it doesn't sound believable—I didn't believe it either. I just lived and struggled through the pain.

Even when I still see dark clouds, I know the sun is within us. We are alive. It is okay to struggle and feel like life is going nowhere. Remember, you are alive, and you have gotten so far—even when it feels like you haven't.
